Safety is our highest priority no matter what. It’s as simple as that. Every worker should go home at the end of the day without incident. Our people are our greatest resource and there is no excuse for working unsafely.

Honesty is one of the foundations our business. We believe that being straight forward with customers, subcontractors, and vendors is extremely important even if it ends up costing our firm money. Our integrity is worth the cost.

The construction industry is full of examples of questionable quality. For us, a quality job is mandatory. It ties in with our principal of honesty. Quality work is honest work. We want to be proud of every project we do and would have to be willing to feature it to anyone we work for.

Our Story
Standard Contracting & Engineering was founded in 1991 by Russell A. Metzger, P.E., with a goal of creating a construction company that offered its customers an outstanding product with no compromises. SCE started with a focus in heavy industry such as LTV Steel and PPG Industries. The company quickly grew from there to servicing industrial clients across Northeast Ohio gaining notable clients such as US Steel, Republic Engineered Products, and General Motors. From there SCE moved into servicing more than just heavy industry. Taking the work ethic and unique safety demands from our early customers we began working with specialty chemical companies throughout the area including Lubrizol Corporation and Polyone Corporation. SCE also moved into non heavy industries such as the telecommunications sector and energy providers.
Today we continue to provide services to many of the companies we started with while having added many new clients along the way. The array of services we offer has grown through out the years as well. We now proudly offer a “jack of all trades” solution to many clients who are looking for a turn-key solution for their facilities. SCE also continues to offer single trade solutions when optimal.
Over the years we have prided ourselves on offering a work environment that employees enjoy. We reward our people fairly for the results of our company. It takes a team of people to achieve success and our people should be recognized for that. Our staff of project managers, estimators, administration, and field personnel bring years of experience to the table. This institutional knowledge is unique and allows us to offer great value to our customers that can be difficult to find in other contractors.
